A Secret World
The third year of Routes to Art provides a glimpse into a Secret World of artists. Traveling from studio to studio, you'll get an unprecedented look at artists painting, creating, and imagining. Witness clay being shaped, paints being laid, and beads being woven. And as you explore, absorbing the natural beauty of our region, enjoy a diverse selection of fine dining, antiquing, shopping, museums, hiking, and lodging choices ranging from cozy B&Bs to luxury hotels.

Self-Guided
We designed Routes to Art to be self-guided, allowing you to pick and choose any of the 43 artists (17 of whom are members of the Senaca Nation) to visit on May 22-23, 2010. Browse the artist directory or the brochure and see what catches your eye, sparks your creativity, ignites your curiosity, or engages your mind. Maybe on day one, you choose to plan your route geographically around a certain town. Or you may want to visit all the watercolor artists. On Day 2, perhaps you're curious about the Seneca artists and artisans. The possibilities are infinite!

Visitor Basics
Visiting an artist's studio is a unique opportunity to view a highly personal workspace. But be aware it may contain hazardous materials and specialized tools, so please be careful and always ask before touching something or taking photographs. Children should be supervised at all times. Please be advised that many studios do not provide public restrooms.

Connect and Keep on Connecting
View the work of each artist on the Routes to Art artist directory or in the brochure. Remember, the art doesn't stop even though the weekend does...you can purchase artwork directly year round from the artists you visit. Most artists accept cash and personal checks, and some artists also accept credit cards. The Cattaraugus County Arts Council does not charge artists commissions; 100% of the sales price goes to the participating artists.
